Grenade Landing VFX

A huge portion of this bundle aims to help your VFX interact with the scenery. Realistic lighting and matte-shadows allow effortless integration into your footage. Our large variety of camera angles lets you pick out specifically which one meets your requirements.

Grenade Looping VFX

For unlimited possibilities, these looping grenade video effects give you full control over the speed, position and animation the grenade follows. Feel free to animate them in any direction using keyframes, a tool available in most editing software.

You can also use these to extract still-frames that can be edited into your scene, replacing any need for a real prop.news

How to add grenade VFX to your video

  • After downloading the grenade asset that best fits your video, open up your preferred editing software that supports multiple layers. Some examples include After Effects, Premiere Pro, Hitfilm, Nuke and Sony Vegas Pro.
  • Import your background footage, which can be a video or still image. You can then position it on the timeline of the video editor.
  • Now import the grenade effect, and insert it to the layer above the background. You’ll see your result instantly. With ProductionCrate assets, it’s that simple!

From here you can perform any further colour corrections, such as adjusting the contrast, in order for it to blend into the background better.

We’re very excited to see what action-packed visual effects you can create with these grenade assets. If you want even further control, you can create your own customised animations by downloading our grenade 3D models.

Blood Explosion Video Effects

Download 4K Blood Explosion VFX Assets here.

These new Bloody Explosion Effects are pretty intense. They’re almost comically excessive and extravagant. Blood mist and splatter, soft body dynamics and realistic jiggle, dust elements and ground-splashes all add to the absurdity that makes these effects unique.

We love action-comedy. Some scenes are so over the top that you just have to shake your head and smile. Check out our video showcasing some of these effects and what sets them apart from anything else we’ve made.

We’ve made over 30 of these video effects. Pro Users have access to 4K Blood Explosions. Basic Users can download 3 of these new VFX for free.

While overblown was the goal, we still made these to be professional-grade effects. The Mini Blood Explosions will let you customize your bursts, you can cover up any seams or start the explosion in various points. The full Body Blood Explosions come with a shadow catcher, the fully combined elements and realistic lighting.

Adaptable lighting has been built into these assets so that they fit into your footage with minimal compositing. The different variations we provide will also give you the freedom to specifically choose which one best matches your scene.

You can import and use these blood effects in most compositing programs, such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Nuke, Hitfilm and more.

Download Debris and Destruction VFX Assets

Download the HD/4K Debris VFX Elements here.

Destruction is one of the cornerstones of action VFX. While destroying things in real life may be fun, the movie-making industry has been shifting towards the CGI approach. We’re here to help you do exactly that.

ProductionCrate has just released a collection of professional-quality 4K debris explosion assets. These action effects are packed full of detail, ensuring you’ll be able to create the finest VFX instantly!

These destruction assets all include an alpha channel and built-in shadows, meaning that no green-screen keying is required to achieve transparency. This allows you to drag and drop the effects onto your project and have it blend in for unbeatable results.

They also all stay completely within frame. This means you can scale, position and rotate these debris VFX assets anywhere in the scene without any visible borders, an issue which is often seen from other stock footage sources.

Compositing destruction and explosion effects digitally allowed us to do things that practical effects cannot, such as being able to precisely control the final look even after we’ve shot our footage!

So how do you create and use the debris VFX? In a mini tutorial, let’s take a look at an example of how you can use these to achieve Hollywood level special effects instantly:

Download Debris and Destruction VFX

Our background (from Pexels.com) is an example of what scenes work best with these assets. We recommend a concrete surface as the ground, but you can easily use other surfaces such as brick, sand or dirt.

You’ll then want to pick your debris VFX assets from our effect library. Try to select ones that best match the lighting and perspective of your scene. For example, the one we are going to use will match the sunlight coming from the side in our background image.

If you know you need even more content in your scene, feel free to also explore the wide range of content we provide that will also help you composite your VFX. We have over 10,000 to choose from, ranging from fire, smoke, explosions and more… (A lot of them are also free to download!).

In your preferred editing software, such as Adobe After Effects, Hitfilm or Premiere Pro, position your downloaded content onto your background. I recommend you also flip the assets horizontally if needed to precisely match the shadows of the scene.

Incredibly, the only step left to do is to colour correct the asset! This is important as it will allow the chunks of rock in the debris asset to look like they come from the ground being obliterated.

A powerful tool is to use a curves effect. Cycle through each of the RGB channels, carefully adjusting the controls until the colours match perfectly.

Did you notice how easy that was? This should prove just how effective our high-quality debris assets will be in your VFX editing workflow.

From here, you can further make enhancements such as masking out the foreground to fully integrate the effect into your scene.

Creating Bullet Impact VFX Assets (Download)

You can download these HD bullet impact effect here

It’s been a while since we last added bullet impact effects to our FootageCrate VFX library, but this update has been worth the wait!

12 incredible new impact assets are a part of our latest collection, with 3 being completely free to download now. You can find the rest of our dust and debris elements here.

Download HD Dust Bullet Impact VFX Assets

These action-packed VFX elements range from 1080p to 4K, meeting the professional standards that you need to make your compositing project stand out. Each is at a consistent 30 fps, and have been pre-keyed to maintain perfect transparency, making it easy to edit them into your shot. Alternatively, you may choose the greenscreen versions which can be downloaded by selecting the MP4 file from the dropdown list.

If you haven’t subscribed to our Youtube channel, we would like to introduce you to our show VFXperiments, where we breakdown the magic behind creating these incredible effects for our community. Our latest episode covers these exciting bullet impact effects!

So now that you’ve caught up with how awesome these effects are, let’s take a look at how we can use them.

The first step is to pick which asset best fits your shot. Is the bullet impacting the floor? Perhaps a wall? Whatever the case, the available variations will meet your needs.

Download HD Dust Bullet Impact VFX Assets

Grab your footage, (in this case I’m using a photo from Pexels.com) and use a compositing software such as Adobe After Effects or Hitfilm and add the bullet impact into your project. If your footage is moving, you can use one of the built-in camera trackers immerse the effect into your video.

Download HD Dust Bullet Impact VFX Assets

Luckily for us, adding these bullet impacts to your video is surprisingly easy thanks to its built-in alpha channel! All we need to do is color correct the layer to match the footage. This can be achieved by applying a tint effect and selecting the colors of the impacted surface as the color to blend into. Making it slightly brighter will then give it the atmospheric-glow that we see in the real world.

Adding some shading can also work wonders! Take a look at the bottom left dust burst for example, where half of the smoke has been covered in shadow. You can recreate this by duplicating the dust burst and having the lower layer darker than the one above. The top layer can then be masked so that only the area in sunlight is visible. This is one of the most effective ways to make your bullet-impact look lifelike!

Download HD Dust Bullet Impact VFX Assets

You can use the tint effect for other scenarios too, with the video covering how to use these impact assets to create an alien sci-fi weapon effect. Additionally, you can tint the footage red to create an instant blood burst!

Download 5 Action Music Tracks!

We love our action scenes! The pacing of the edit, the looseness of the shooting and of course the music to drive the sequences make them some of the more fun projects to work on. SoundsCrate.com is a great place to find your action music.

Our Action Category on SoundsCrate has been a consistently used section for many of our videos. So much so that we have started to re-use many of the same tracks. It was past due for us to spice things up!

The fantastic composers at Suite Tracks built us (and all of you) 5 new and amazing action tracks. These were made specifically to fit in a variety of films and videos. Our previous action tracks often leaned towards darker tones, while these new ones work well in comedy-action, training sequences and less-threatening but still intense scenes.

War Beat (Free)

Drums pound out excitement and trick your heart rate into trying to keep up in this awesome track. The start hits fast but the build up takes it’s time, ending in a crescendo that will leave you breathless.

No Warriors Here (Pro)

There is a playful, almost goofy vibe generated by this song. It evokes a sense of the 1940’s or 50’s, the war is just beginning and newspaper headlines splash across the screen!

Digital Distress (Pro)

This track maintains it’s synthetic texture while incorporating some classical instruments. It can work well in the Thriller Category  about as well as it works in the Action. Whatever is going on in your scene, it’s definitely not good. This can be used well in anything from a modern-superhero movie to an all out Cyborg vs. Vampires flick.

Conquest (Pro)

As the name suggests, this track is great for adventure. Well timed-bells signal the unifying of armies while violins keep pace with galloping hoofbeats of   the last remaining scout. This track is all build up, no crescendo, giving you the room to play around as needed.

Endless (Free)

Another track that would fit in well in our  Thriller Category , Endless keeps you on the edge of your seat while finding time to slow or speed things up without losing your attention.

Enjoy these tracks! Looking for more? See our other Music Posts Here!

Helicopter VFX Tutorial

Download HD Helicopter VFX assets here

Our brand new helicopter assets have landed in the FootageCrate library, giving you the power to create your own stunning action movie VFX!

Over 30 exciting elements are available for you, with some of them being free to download. We’ve made sure the selection covers all of the intense helicopter sequences you’ll need to build the perfect narrative for your project.

The collection includes take-offs, flybys, static graphics and even a spectacular helicopter crash.

Helicopter Crash VFX for your Videos

It’s time to get started with the tutorial, so you can learn how to add these helicopter VFX into your own videos! We’ll be going over the general workflow which covers the steps you need to take to composite all of our helicopter assets. I’ll also be using After Effects today, but you can replicate the steps in almost any compositing software such as Hitfilm and Nuke.

We’ll first need a background, which today will be this beautiful aerial mountain scenery from Pexels, but feel free to use your own!

Helicopter VFX Tutorial Background

Once you’ve created a composition featuring your background, find a helicopter asset that best suits your shot. There’s many to choose from, so you’ll have no trouble finding one that you want. I recommend that you also consider the lighting when deciding which effect you want for your VFX. Here I’ll be using a looping shot from the side:

Download Helicopter VFX Assets

Drop the effect into a new layer of your composition, and position it where you need it. Since the background and the helicopter don’t have matching sources of light, I flipped the landscape horizontally in order to have the light coming from the same direction. This goes a long way when it comes to making sure your effect fits naturally into your scene!

Helicopter VFX Tutorial

The shot is already looking pretty good, but we’ll perform some colour correction to make it perfect. I used a curves effect to lightly decrease the red as well as increase the blue, which matched the chilling tone of the environment.

Download Helicopter VFX Tutorial

No action scene is complete without some background motion blur, which also gives the illusion that the helicopter is moving at great speeds. It also helps highlight the main feature of our shot, so that it stands out from the rest.

Download Helicopter VFX Tutorial

This is the third tutorial in a row which has made use of our ProductionCrate Lightwrap generator, so if you haven’t checked it out already download it here! This tool is an absolute game-changer when it comes to compositing inside After Effects. It takes the colour of the environment and blends it into the edges of the asset, making it seem as though light from the scene is bouncing off our helicopter and into the camera. The default settings will do for most scenes, so hitting “Generate” should do the trick, but feel free to adjust the settings if needed.

You’ve made it to the end! We now have a photorealistic helicopter VFX effect in almost no time at all thanks to ProductionCrate’s helicopter library. It’s time to add our final colour corrections to give it the cinema-quality tone we want to see (here I had increased the contrast and saturation).

HD Blood VFX Collection

Download HD blood impact VFX assets here

Halloween is approaching, which is the perfect time to think about the spooky areas of VFX, like blood! It has always been very close to our hearts when working in special effects. Producers tend to want to keep their actors alive, and so studios must find ways to recreate these gore-filled sequences using safer methods.

You’ve probably heard of the classic squib! These are miniaturised air cannons which can be remotely set off, forcing blood-coloured fluid effects into the air. This creates the illusion of a bullet impact! However, these can be expensive, timely to set up and will ruin whatever you’re wearing. This is why the industry has been shifting more towards compositing these blood effects digitally using VFX.

Blood Squib FX

This shot featured in our “Put a gun through a hand” tutorial did exactly this. We used blood explosion assets which are all available to download on FootageCrate. We even have free blood impacts as well, so there’s nothing to stop you from turning your movie into a gruesomely realistic action adventure!

Our HD pre-keyed blood explosions are easy to composite, it’s as simple as dragging and dropping the effect into your video using any compositing software. Popular ones to try are Adobe After Effects, Hitfilm, and Premiere Pro which are all accessible to learn from our countless tutorials.

After hosting this content for more than 8 years, we’re proud of our blood splatter VFX, and we hope you have great fun using these in your video.
