The first time I heard of Chris Clements was when my brother forwarded me “Star Wars SC38 Reimagined”, a wonderful video which reinvigorated the somewhat dated Visual Effects in the original Star Wars. The quality of the work was impressive, from the stunt to the effects.
We’ve been doing some interviews with various artists on our new Craters Youtube Channel, and I figured this was a great time to get to know a bit more about Chris and the work he does. He told me about his start on Youtube creating fun VFX sketches and shorts. His Youtube channel was discovered by some folks in the industry, who contacted Chris for some work. From there he’s gone on to work for Hollywood films and TV shows such as Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate and Netflix’s The Punisher series. Check out the full interview here.

The Millennium Falcon, Serenity, Battlestar Galactica, Starship Enterprise, they’re all as much a part of your favorite movies and shows as the actors are. The best ships are the ones that have personality (figuratively or often literally), quirks, a unique look, and most importantly, great sound.
Whether you’re engaging light-speed travel or dodging asteroids you’ll need the right audio to match those impressive visuals. We’ve been building out the VFX side of things, with our 3D content regularly expanding and tutorials to help you along the way, but our audio options have been lacking. Until now.
We’re happy to say we now have over 45 spaceship sound effects available for download. This includes a variety of flyby action. interior sounds to set the vibe. Audio for large and small aircraft, and everything in between. 11 of these sound effects are free for everyone.

Creating holograms in After Effects is about to get a lot more fun with the release of our latest script.
These effects are one of the most requested on ProductionCrate, our library of thousands of digital assets to help build your creative endeavours. We know that often you will need to control what’s projected in the hologram, which is why we released this tool to help you do exactly that.
Not only can you download it for free, but using it to create your After Effects hologram is a one-click process!
Every feature that you could possibly need was built into the script. This includes:
All properties are fully customisable, meaning no matter what style you were aiming for, you’ll get there.
If you wanted to save your customised hologram, you can also click Animation -> Save Animation Preset to be able to apply it to any other shots you may have.
And if you wanted to save time, you might be interested in checking out the presets that we have built into the script. You can navigate through these by clicking the arrows on the pop-up window. These have been built to mimic some of the most recognisable movie holograms, referencing Star Wars, Iron Mans HUD, Aquaman and more.
To download and install the script, open up After Effects and navigate through File -> Scripts -> Run Script File. Find a folder you wish to keep the script, then extract both the images folder and “Crates Camera Script.jsx” to the new location. Double click the .jsx file and you’ll be ready to create your holograms in an instant!
